Contrapposto

Contrapposto is an Italian term that means counterpoise. It describes the positioning of the body, specifically when a figure is standing with one leg straightened and the other relaxed. This weight distribution makes the figures hips and shoulders sit at opposite angles to each other, resulting in a more relaxed and comfortable pose. It is important when sculpting to take Contrapposto into account as it helps to produce a more natural and human-like sculpt.
